Article Summary

Mark column headers in the project importer to help AutoRFP correctly identify table structure in complex layouts. This ensures response fields and response columns are matched with their closest column heading rather than the first matched row, improving accuracy for tables with multiple header groups.

Estimated Time

A few seconds per table

Prerequisites

  • Project document containing tables with headers uploaded to AutoRFP

  • Access to project importer

  • Understanding of table structure and column purposes

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access the Project Importer

  1. From your Dashboard, click Create Project.

  2. Upload your Word, Excel, or PDF file containing tables.

  3. Complete Project Analysis and project details.

  4. You'll be directed to the project importer screen.

Step 2: Mark Column Headers

  1. Click on the first header cell in your document.

  2. Select Column Header from the options menu.

  3. The cell highlights indicating header status.

  4. Repeat for all header cells across different sections or columns of the table.

Step 3: Mark Response Columns

  1. After marking all column headers, proceed to mark response cells.

  2. Click on cells below headers to mark them as Responses.

  3. AutoRFP now matches each response column with its closest column heading.

  4. This ensures accurate labeling when you have multiple sections with different header names.

Step 4: Complete Project Creation

  1. Finish marking all tables and requirements in your document.

  2. Choose source documents.

  3. Set response mode.

  4. Click Create Project.

šŸ”Ž Expected Result

  • Response columns correctly matched with their closest column headers

  • Accurate labeling for tables with multiple header groups

  • Proper distinction between different sections of complex tables

šŸ’”Tips & Best Practices

  • Mark all column headers before marking response cells

  • Work section by section for complex tables

  • Mark headers even if layout seems simple—prevents possible issues

āœ‹šŸ¼ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Not marking column headers in complex tables—leads to incorrect label assignment

  • Marking only the first set of headers—subsequent sections get missed

  • Assuming AutoRFP will detect all headers automatically in complex layouts
