Footnotes make it easier to add supplementary information and citations to your documents. These footnotes are automatically exported to your project documentation with the relevant information and automatic numbering.

How It Works

  • Insert Footnote - Click the footnote button in the editor toolbar to add a footnote. This works for both project responses and content items. You will see some placeholder text appear inside the editor, as well as a popup menu where you can insert the footnote information.

  • Edit Content - Enter the information required for your footnote in the popup text input and click 'Apply'.

  • Hover the placeholder text - You can hover over the footnote at any time to see the footnote written.

  • Click to edit the footnote text - To edit the footnote, you can click on the placeholder text which will make the popup reappear. Note: this functionality will not work for approved responses.

Export Support

  • Word Documents: Footnotes are automatically formatted and placed at the bottom of each page.

  • Excel Documents: Footnotes are automatically below the answer within the same cell.

  • Automatic Numbering: Footnotes are automatically numbered and ordered when exported. For word documents, the footnotes will be numbered document wide, and for Excel documents, footnotes will be numbered on a response by response basis
