Article Summary
Compliance group labels let you assign a meaningful and defined name to each compliance dropdown in your project. Instead of relying on auto-generated names, you can label groups clearly (e.g., "Security Compliance", "SLA Readiness") so they are easy to identify when managing multiple dropdowns across a large RFP.
Estimated Time
A few seconds per compliace group
Prerequisites
Access to an AutoRFP project with editing permissions
At least one requirement selected in the project editor with an associated compliance dropdown
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1: Create Your Project
Create a project in AutoRFP
Select one or more requirements in your document
In the inline toolbar, locate the Custom Dropdowns button (green dropdown icon).
Note: If you only have one compliance group, it will appear directly in the toolbar. If you have multiple groups, click Custom Dropdowns to expand the list.
Step 2: Create a New Compliance Group
Click Create Dropdown from the toolbar or the expanded dropdown list.
Choose a template to start from:
Yes/No -- simple binary compliance (Yes / No)
Compliance Scale -- three-level scale (Compliant / Partially Compliant / Non-Compliant)
Readiness Scale -- implementation readiness levels (Out of the Box / Configurable / Requires Customization)
Custom Dropdown -- start with blank options and define your own
The compliance group configuration panel opens automatically.
Step 3: Set the Group Label
At the top of the configuration panel, locate the Group Label field.
Enter a descriptive name for this compliance group (e.g., "Security Requirements", "Delivery Readiness").
The label is required -- you cannot confirm the group without one.
Labels are case-insensitive unique -- if a group called "Security" already exists, you cannot create another called "security".
Step 4: Configure Options and Confirm
Review or edit the option labels for each compliance level.
For horizontal compliance groups, also fill in the value for each option.
Optionally, expand the advanced settings to add criteria text for each option
Click Confirm to save the group.
Note: The Confirm button remains disabled until all required fields are complete. Hover over it to see a tooltip explaining what still needs attention.
Step 5: Edit an Existing Group Label
In the toolbar, expand Custom Dropdowns if you have multiple groups.
Click the Configure icon (pencil/edit icon) next to the group you want to update.
Update the Group Label field.
Click away from the field or press Tab -- the label saves automatically on blur.
Click Confirm to apply all changes.
π‘ Tips & Best Practices
Use descriptive, project-relevant names (e.g., "Data Privacy Compliance" rather than "Dropdown 1")
Keep labels concise so they display clearly in the toolbar submenu
Establish a consistent naming convention across projects for easier reporting
Each compliance group appears as a selectable item under Custom Dropdowns in the toolbar, identified by its label
Labels help team members quickly identify which dropdown to apply to which set of requirements
βπΌ Common Mistakes to Avoid
Leaving the default auto-generated label -- generic names like "Yes/No 2" become confusing when you have several compliance groups; rename them
Trying to use a duplicate label -- labels must be unique (case-insensitive). If you see the error "A group with this label already exists", choose a different name
Forgetting to fill in all option labels or values before clicking Confirm -- the button will remain disabled until every field is complete
Skipping the label field entirely -- the group label is required; you will see "Enter a group label" in the tooltip if it is left blank
