How to Integrate with Slack

Connect AutoRFP to Slack for notifications and question answering

Prerequisites

  • Administrator permissions in AutoRFP

  • Users with matching email addresses in both AutoRFP and Slack


Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access Integration Settings

  1. Navigate to Organizational Settings > Integrations in AutoRFP.

  2. Locate the Slack integration section.


Step 2: Connect to Slack

  1. Click Add to Slack.

  2. You will be prompted to authenticate the app.

  3. Review the requested permissions (the bare minimum required for the bot to send notifications and answer questions).

  4. Approve the permissions to complete the connection.


Step 3: Verify Connection

  1. Confirm the integration shows as "Connected" in AutoRFP under the Integrations tab.

  2. Users in Slack with email addresses matching AutoRFP users will automatically begin receiving notifications from the AutoRFP bot for Slack.

📝 Note: Individual users may need to add the approved AutoRFP app to their Slack Workspace. Please refer to this article for instructions.


Step 4: Configure Notification Preferences

  1. Each user can customize their notification preferences.

  2. Navigate to User Settings > Notifications in AutoRFP.

  3. Select Slack as the delivery method for desired notifications.

🙋🏽What types of notifications will I receive in Slack?

With the AutoRFP Integration for Slack, you can receive the following notifications directly inside Slack:

Project Notifications

  • You're assigned as an editor to a response

  • A response you are an assigned reviewer on is submitted for review

  • You are tagged in a comment on a response

Content Library Notifications

  • A source you are assigned to is flagged for review


Asking Questions from Slack

You can ask questions in slack using the following actions:

✅ Using the Slash Command

  1. In any Slack channel, type /ask-autorfp followed by your question.

  2. Press Enter to submit.

  3. AutoRFP responds with an answer based on your content library.

Example: /ask-autorfp What is our standard data retention policy?

✅ Direct Messaging the Bot

  1. Find the AutoRFP bot in your Slack workspace.

  2. Send a direct message with your question by starting your question with @AutoRFP.ai.

  3. Receive an instant answer from your content library.


💡 Tips & Best Practices

  • Coordinate with Slack admins to approve the integration promptly

  • Ensure users have matching email addresses in both AutoRFP.ai and Slack for notifications to work

  • Enable Slack notifications for time-sensitive alerts (assignments, review requests, @mentions)

  • Use /ask-autorfp in relevant channels to share answers with your team
