The AutoRFP browser extension is a handy way to work with AutoRFP from the pages you're already on. You can answer questions, search your content, and work on projects within portals without switching back and forth. Before you can use it, it needs to be connected to your AutoRFP account.
The extension doesn't ask you to sign in separately. Instead, it asks the AutoRFP website to confirm it's you. So you sign in the way you always do, whether that's with a password, Google, Microsoft or your company login, and the extension picks it up from there.
This guide walks you through it step by step, and helps if anything doesn't go quite to plan.
How the connection works
It helps to know what's happening behind the scenes, because it makes any hiccups easier to sort out.
You choose Login in the extension.
A new tab opens on your AutoRFP sign-in page.
You sign in as you normally would.
The page passes a one-time confirmation back to the extension, and you'll see a short "Logging in to chrome extension" message.
The extension is connected, and you'll get a confirmation.
A few things are worth keeping in mind:
You use your usual sign-in method. If your company uses Google, Microsoft or Enterprise SSO, you'll use that. There's no extension password to remember.
Leave the sign-in tab open until it finishes. That tab is where the handoff happens, so closing it a moment too early can leave the extension waiting.
The extension relies on your AutoRFP sign-in. If you can't get into AutoRFP itself, the extension can't connect either.
🛠️ What you will need:
The AutoRFP extension installed in your browser from the Chrome Store
Your usual AutoRFP sign-in details
Pop-ups allowed for AutoRFP, if your company uses Google, Microsoft or Enterprise SSO
How to connect the extension
Step 1: Open the extension.
Click the AutoRFP icon in your browser toolbar. If you can't see it, click the puzzle-piece icon to open your extensions, find AutoRFP and pin it. That keeps it one click away from now on.
Step 2: Choose Login.
When you're not signed in, you'll see the AutoRFP logo with two buttons, Login and Sign Up. Choose Login.
Step 3: Let the new tab open.
A new tab opens on the AutoRFP sign-in page. Please keep it open for now. If it doesn't appear, don't worry. There's a simple fix in the troubleshooting section below.
Step 4: Enter your work email.
Type the email address your company used to add you to AutoRFP, then select Continue.
Step 5: Sign in the way AutoRFP shows you.
You'll either be asked for your password or see a button for Google, Microsoft or Enterprise SSO. Use whichever one appears. If your company asks for an extra security step, such as a code on your phone, go ahead and complete that too.
If you're taken to a different address along the way, such as the US or Europe site, that's perfectly normal. It just means AutoRFP found your account and sent you to the right place.
Step 6: Wait for the confirmation.
Once you're in, you'll briefly see "Logging in to chrome extension…", followed by a green message letting you know it worked. Stay on the tab until you see it.
Step 7: Refresh your open tabs.
The confirmation suggests refreshing any tabs you already have open, then clicking the extension icon. Refreshing lets those pages recognize the extension. Any tab you open from now on will work straight away.
Step 8: You're ready to go.
Click the AutoRFP icon again. Instead of the login buttons, you'll see the extension's working tabs, such as Answer and Search. That's how you know you're connected.
If it doesn't connect first time
Don't worry. It's usually a small thing, and there's almost always a quick fix.
The sign-in tab didn't open
Your browser may have blocked it.
Look in the address bar for a notice about a blocked pop-up or tab.
Choose to allow it for AutoRFP.
Open the extension and select Login again.
If it still won't open, you can start the connection yourself:
Open a new tab and go to your team's AutoRFP sign-in page, for example
https://us.autorfp.ai/login.Add
?extensionWantsAuth=trueto the end of the address, so it readshttps://us.autorfp.ai/login?extensionWantsAuth=true, and press Enter.Sign in as usual and wait for the green confirmation.
You signed in, but the extension still shows the login buttons
This usually means the handoff didn't quite finish. Let's try again.
Check you waited for the green "logged in successfully" message before closing the tab.
Refresh the page you're working on.
Close and reopen the extension.
If you still see the login buttons, choose Login once more and keep the sign-in tab open until the confirmation appears. This works most of the time.
You can't sign in on the AutoRFP page itself
Since the extension relies on that page, sorting out your sign-in is the first step. It could be a small mix-up with your email, a forgotten password, or that your company hasn't added you yet.
The extension asks you to log in again
This can happen from time to time, for example if you've been signed out or your company has changed how it signs in. Follow the same steps and you'll be connected again in no time.
💡 Tips for a smooth connection
Pin the extension to your toolbar so it's always easy to find.
Allow pop-ups and new tabs for AutoRFP in your browser settings.
Keep the sign-in tab open until you see the confirmation. This is the one thing that makes the biggest difference.
Refresh your open tabs after connecting so they can use the extension.
